Students acquire knowledge and critical thinking skills to understand issues surrounding the world, while attaining proficiency in two foreign languages (English + French, Spanish, German, Chinese, Korean or Vietnamese). Students are required to study at our Boston campus, or one of our partnership schools in Alkala (Spain), Shanghai, Seoul or Hanoi. The aim of the department is to prepare graduates who can play an active role in a rapidly globalized world.

Students develop their English abilities to communicate effectively in the international community. Students spend from 5 to 17 months during their freshman and sophomore years at our Boston campus. After returning from Boston, they continue to enhance their English skills, and start concentrating on five academic areas: English and American Literature and Culture, English Linguistics, Teaching English, Media Communication and Business Communication.

Students acquire deep knowledge about business, as well as strong communication and problem-solving skills which are necessary attributes of future global business leaders. Our curriculum offers study in marketing, accounting, management and economic principles both in Japanese and English. Students also participate in business projects in partnership with private businesses, and are taught by our highly qualified faculty with strong business experiences.

Our curriculum enables students to acquire accounting & finance-related certification such as 2nd and 3rd grade in the Official Business Skills Test in Bookkeeping, and Financial Planning Technician during the first two years of study. Students will continue to develop their knowledge and skills in our focused curriculum, and will be encouraged to pursue more advanced certification in their junior and senior years. Our experienced faculty with their diverse backgrounds – including careers in financial institutions, tax law, and financial planning – offer a wide range of courses from theoretical foundations to advanced business practices. In their junior and senior years, students experience the world of business through participation in collaborative business projects with corporations, which will not only enhance their learning, but also lead to personal growth.

There are three fields to choose from: Japanese Literature, Japanese Language, and Teaching Japanese as a Foreign Language. Students in Japanese Literature study classical and modern Japanese literary works along with children’s literature. Students focusing on Japanese Language study the structure and the history of the language. Students in the Teaching Japanese as Foreign Language course study how to teach Japanese to nonnative speakers of Japanese.

Students study the history and culture of Japan and the world. They explore four basic fields of study: History and Archeology, Art and Traditional Culture, the Culture of Region and Race, and Cultural Assets and Museology. They also lean academic methodologies pertinent to historical inquiry.

Psychology allows us to understand the human mind and behavior scientifically. Using clinical, social, developmental, and cognitive approaches, students can acquire an unbiased, basic knowledge of psychology with a broad perspective. Increased knowledge is attained and developed through carefully designed research and fieldwork.

We educate our students to attain a deeper, scientific understanding of people and society and, to contribute to the building of a happier social environment. The department has three courses: Social work, Careers in Welfare, and Child care.

Through a variety of different courses and programs, we help our students to attain a deep knowledge of elementary education. The cultivation of interpersonal skills, compassion and leadership is prioritized to help our students pursue their careers. There are two courses; Kindergarten and Elementary School, and Kindergarten and Nursery. Both courses qualify graduates to obtain double licenses in their chosen track.

Students attain a deep knowledge of social science and widen their perspectives through three interdisciplinary courses: Modern society, Economics and Management, and International Society. Critical thinking skills are honed to properly grasp and analyze today’s issues. Courses in English and Japanese, advanced computer literacy, and communication skills further enhance their capabilities.

We educate our students to develop knowledge and skills in the designing of human environments. After completing introductory courses to learn the basics of environmental design, students choose one of the four specialized courses: Architecture and Interior Design, Product Design, Clothing Design and Management, Design Management.

We educate our students in health science, enabling them to take a holistic approach to supporting human health. After attaining the basic knowledge of nutrition, students choose of the three specialized fields: Food Science, Sensory Science, or Sports Nutrition and Fitness.

The purpose of this department is to educate registered dietitians who can apply their professional knowledge to medical services and nutritional administration in hospitals and welfare institutions. Through numerous experiments and practica, students can build the skills they need to work as professional dietitians. At graduation, students are expected to pass the National Examination for Registered Dietitians.

The purpose of this department is to educate professionals who play a leading role in Japan’s food and restaurant business. Students learn the sciences of food, nutrition and hygiene, as well as business theories and practices (economics, marketing, risk management, etc.).
